Master the art of fly fishing, catch and release is mostly the practice, although a trophy would be the exception, spin-fishing and trolling on request.
Lake Wanaka Fishing Safaris offers excellent flyfishing at lake edges, stream mouths and rivers. fly fishing with nymphs, deeply sunk wet flies and lures. Common rods and lines are 7-8
weight with dry and sinking wet lines. Dry fly size 12-14,
lure 8-10.
Wanaka Fishing Safaris is a central
destination with easy access to Queenstown, Milford Sound, Southland and west
coast. Lake Wanaka has a large tackle shop / sports store for all requirements. Wanaka is easily accessible by regular coach services,
airport connections hire car etc.

temperatures improving, good PM hatches. December: January, February: Settled weather, rivers tend to
be
lower with excellent
dry fly fishing. March: Many
fishermen prefer March, weather not too hot,
conditions still ideal for dry and wet fly fishing. April: Temperatures
are coole, dry fly fishing not as rewarding,
wet fly
excellent, rainbow trout at their
best. May: Dry fly
fishing finished, still good lure fishing.
Tariffs 2011 Season:
1 or 2 persons, fishing with 1 guide, $550.00 per day, $350 half day.
Evening fishing by arrangement - Groups by arrangement.
Courtesy 4WD transport - Lunch provided in daily tariff. Helicopter or fixed wing aircraft by
arrangement. Fishing license is not included in tariff.
